SANTORINI

Updated: May 19, 2021

Santorini is one the most beautiful island of Greece located in the middle of the Aegean Sea. It is a big island containing multiples cute town that each have their vibes.

1. OIA

Oia is located in the north of the island and is also one of the most famous spots in Santorini. I would recommend going to Oia if you are planning to go as a couple because it is a romantic place to be. One of the particularities of Oia is that it has lots of restaurants and also a good spot for pictures.

Where to stay in Oia:

MAREGIO SUITES

From far one of the best hotels and service in Oia, they have an incredible staff.The hotel combines excellent position next to shops and restaurants and intimacy.

Also, if you need something special, ask the reception they can arrange the room.

Best point: The breakfast is really good, and you have a lot of options.

Where to eat in Oia:

1. Ambriosa

For a dinner between lovers, there is nothing better than this restaurant, it gives you a perfect romantic vibe with a beautiful table and view.

2. Fino

Not in the front line of the promenade but has excellent food and unique cuisine.

3. Candouni

Has a nice terrasse where you can eat outside and propose a really good menu.

4. Karma café

If you want to have a coffee or have an aperitif it's the perfect place for tapas, I will not recommend staying there to eat but really beautiful spot to have some tapas.

5. Sunset Ammoudi

it is at the bay, so you will need to take a cab or walk the stairs of Oia to go there but at night it has a special vibe and is awesome. regarding the food, this is good but quite expensive.

2. FIRA

Fira is the capital of Santorini located in the center and where you have most of the activities.

There is also the old port and the cruise arriving in Fira in normal time. It is a nice spot to stay if you desire to be in the center, it's less romantic than Oia but also have a nice spot.

Where to stay:

PORTO FIRA VILLAS

You can have multiple choices of villas, but all are amazing and have a wonderful view. Personally, the grand villa is fantastic for family and have also an indoor pool Hammam which is great for the evening.

it is close to everything and it is really easy to move around in the city. The breakfast is nice but not amazing.

Best point: View and location and also the villas were like a hotel, so it's cleaned every day.

Where to eat in Fira:

1. Kaliya

Has a beautiful rooftop with a wonderful view over Fira and the sea.

Propose also excellent cuisine.

2. Pelican Kipos

Not in front of the view but has a wonderful terrasse full of plants and flowers.

they have lots of choices and they have good fish.

3. Caccio e Pepe

Italian restaurant that proposes nice pizza and pasta and is located in a quiet place in Fira.

4. Ginger

The best sushi in Santorini is not exactly in Fira, it is on the way to Imerovigli.

The food is awesome and also a nice area.

3. AKRIOTIRI

Located in the south of the island, it is more of a quiet area where you can appreciate the same views as in Oia but without the attractions and sounds of the city. It is beautiful I will not recommend for the first time in Santorini to be there because you don't have a promenade with shops and restaurants but for the second time it is one of the most peaceful areas in Santorini.

Where to stay:

AROTA EXCLUSIVE VILLAS

Amazing villa, with a splendid view on the caldera. the staff is great and you have a lot of space. Perfect for family or friends.

Best point: Swimming pool and space.

Where to eat:

1. Misteli restaurant:

Have a lot of space and a wonderful terrasse propose excellent food and really good service.

2. Alali restaurant:

Nice restaurant that has an amazing view, not very spacious but has also good service.

THE BEST BEACHES TO GO:

  1. RED BEACH

One of the most beautiful beaches I made, the advantage is that it is protected from the wind and also have some sands which are easier than rocks.

Advice: take some sneakers or shoes that are closed because to access the beach you will need to walk a bit on dangerous rocks.

Where to eat :

-The dolphins fish tavern:

The restaurant is just next to the beach and has great food. I would recommend the fried tomatoes they are just excellent.

2. WHITE BEACH

It is right next to the red beach and is only accessible through a boat. But as you can see if you can take a boat, you can live the same experience by going until the end of the red beach and you will have the white rocks there.

3. KAMARI AND PERISSA

Those are black sands beaches and are both the bigger beaches on the island.the area is amazing but if there is wind it's quite dangerous and you cannot go swimming. I'll recommend going to these beaches while the sea is calm.

Where to eat :

-Savvas Popeye restaurant:

Amazing restaurants right in front of the sea and propose grilled fish that is fresh and good.

TAXI PRICES ESTIMATIONS:

Airport-> Fira= 25euro

Airport-> Oia= 30 euro

Fira-> Oia= 20 euro

Fira->red beach= 25euro

Prices depend on the location but don't accept the taxi proposed by your hotel, it will be lower to take a taxi independently.

Covid Regulations:

From France: You will need a negative PCR to enter the country and you will also need one 72hours before returning.

From Israel: You won't need a negative PCR if you are vaccinated to go to Santorini but if you plan to stay more than 72 hours there you will need a negative PCR to go back to Israel.

For a Covid test:

There is the public hospital that is close to Fira, and you also have the private clinic in Fira.

Both ask between 60 to 90 euro to do a PCR.
